Maik Bluhm's work is amazing, his series "Idee" is made from altered images from the former GDR and it's just totally awesome.

Stas Sipovich is Czech but i had to post him anyway, because some of his work makes me feel ashamed of myself for being so lame compared to him. Especially this cats posters.

Researching projects in a more coherent manner is something I think will improve the focus of my work. I've always kind of missed the boat in terms of getting fully formed ideas down. But living without a printer means i rarely print research out and to be honest in this day and age it kind of seems a clumsy and un-environmentally friendly way of going about it. So from now on I'll be blogging certain resources I've been investigating. Most of this will be written content, my visual influences are changing too fast to really keep up with most of the time.

Currently in doj we're working on a project based around updating german folklore. The angle I've been interested is combining the obvious tropes of folklore, most of them being cautionary tales, with the inherent and modern dangers of the berlin club scene. As well as this I'm interested in the lingering gap between the former GDP and west Germany. So heres some links too some of the things I've been reading, a bit of visual stuff I've been referencing and hopefully you might get an idea of what I'm looking into. But mostly, this is for my own documentation.

One day Berlin, you and me are going to get romantic.

Well, the days are getting shorter, the nights longer, and now seems as good a time as any to actually get this blog war with that she devil on the go. And what better way than to get one over her in terms of video linking. She posts some daft Jim Henson thing, i hit back with "Closed Circuit" a student film by the freakishly talented trio of Matt Cameron, Ian Forbes and Douglas Sloan. The film includes an appearance by Ronald Forbes, an artist and filmmaker. I'm pretty sure the first exhibition I ever saw was his and as my parents owned a couple of his prints his work was pretty much engrained into my mind. "Closed Circuit" also includes a small appearance by myself, and by appearance i mean one shot. So suck on that Jerry. Although, to be fair, she will be working with Ian Forbes a project for his degree show. The point is, "Closed Circuit" is a good student film by three people who i respect immensely and if you come across this you should definitely check it out because it's about a million times more interesting on this blog. coming soon, hopefully, will be some draft versions of my first recording under the alias "colour animal" which is a working title but if there is even the slightest implication that the track has any potential i might continue with it and also try producing a few other tracks. Basically all that's left to do is properly edit the guitar parts and then a quick mix down. watch this space. although, you know, obviously no does actually watch this space. but i can look at it and go "at least it exists."

Blog Off

Here begins Fuchsia Leopards, which to be honest i've mainly started for purposes of a blog war with Jerry Cook a.k.a "the prettiest of play things" which i'd imagine no one but the two of us will be witness to. It's almost romantic. Fuchsia Leopards also exists in a slightly more 2.0 albeit just as pathetic form here.

Future posts might be less self indulgent than this, but I doubt it.
